An important message from Malik Thornton,
CADEM Regional Organizer
CD-48 (San Diego)
Have you heard the news? Darrell Issa has dropped out of the race!
This is big news for our mission to flip CD-48. With Darrell Issa out of the race we have a new MAGA Republican opponent, Jim Desmond. But even with a change in opponents, this race is still critical, and flipping this seat will still require hard, important, necessary work from all of us.
Work like what we did in San Marcos earlier this month.
Community members, activists, and local party leaders like our SDCDP Chair Will Rodriguez-Kennedy, North Coastal Area Vice Chair Stephanie Wells, and SD Young Dems Director of Community Service, Malachi Bielecki and more!
Together we:
✅ Knocked on over 200 doors
✅ Made 41 emotional connections with voters on issues important to them
✅ Learned about issues important to voters
In today’s political climate, deep canvassing has proven to be the most effective technique for moving voters. This model focuses on building authentic, longer-term relationships with voters by taking the time to understand the issues that matter most to them and engaging in conversations about shared values. The relationships built through this approach build communities and deliver victories on Election Day.
You and I are stewards of Democracy. It is our responsibility to defend it. Our defense remains canvassing, phonebanking, and showing up where it’s needed most. And it’s more important now than ever.
This moment requires all of us. Whether you’re in the 48th or not, I am counting on you to join us on March 21st for our next San Diego canvas!
Can I continue to count on you? Sign up today!!!
Do you want to learn more about Deep Canvassing? Join myself and other San Diego organizers for a one-day Special Deep Canvassing training. If you want to learn new skills either as a seasoned canvasser or a first-time organizer, this is the place to be! Sign up here!
Stay tuned for more updates on our upcoming actions! See you in the field.
